What Bad Are Ghosts?

When men are so frightening

What bad are ghosts?

They do not ruin your day

Or come out in the light

They only seek a little company

In the dark of the night

…

They cannot hold a knife

Let alone a gun

They cannot even scare my daughter

Forget about my son

They do not own a truck

And run it straight into people’s hearts

Or plant a bomb in a shrine

And watch everything fall apart

They do not hold hostages

And let innocent blood shed

All they really do is

Ensure you’re a little scared

They never even make it

To the top of any headlines

I wonder sometimes if it’s them or us

That isn’t blessed with a spine

…

If you were to ask me

Who do I hate the most?

I’d say when men are so frightening

What bad are ghosts?

  17. This is a brilliant way to bring to light the real horrors of our time. I love this because it is captivating, yet in a soothing way it speaks the truths of societal strife and some people do need to be a tad insulated from the hard core news at times. I have to say, I agree with you. I’m not afraid of ghosts either, that’s probably why I can tell my memoirs about them without having nightmares. I think for me it is brain candy, something benign for my mind to snack on. I love reading your writings, they are so great. Thank you.
