You Don’t Have To Be A Poet To Write On Such A Beautiful Night

Clouds, like giant balls of snow
All lining up in a row
Ready to pour down all the love within
Down on the ground below
Nobody ever knew, nobody will ever know
Just when will the dark steal from the day
Nobody needs to take my hand and show
Me love, on such a beautiful day

Pretty people with pretty company
Smiling, laughing tenderly
Smiling and laughing the day away
While the winds blow so gently
A story so strange and funny
Lost words of yesterday
Nobody ever did feel lonely
Or unwanted, on such a beautiful day

Little angels now moonlit
Their faces shine and they know it
The lamp-post is just a speck
But they don’t want to show it
The devil too, will soon forfeit
Any hopes of killing the light
You don’t have to be a poet
To write, on such a beautiful night

  1. But you ARE a poet all day and all night. Your opening couplet about clouds is right up there with Joni Mitchell’s “ice cream castles” and “angel hair”. Great imagery throughout, too. PS… Thanks for liking my blog. I’ll be following you so I can continue to read your imaginative and heartfelt verses.
