Comfortably Dumb

Hell-o
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Are you really a moron?

Come on now
I hear you’re feeling down
Well, I can ease your pain
Admit you’re a fool again

Relax
I’ll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Just how big a dunce you are?

There is much pain, you are providing
A distant ship sank on your ignorance
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I don’t wanna hear what you’re saying
When I was a child I had a disorder
My friends were just like two buffoons
Now I’ve got that feeling once again
I can’t explain, you would not understand
This is not how you were
You might become comfortably dumb

You have become comfortably dumb

O.K.
Just a little pin prick
There’ll be no more aaaaaaaah!
Even I’m getting a little sick

Can you stand up?
I do believe it’s working, good
That’ll cure, you nincompoop
Come on, it’s time to go.

There is much pain, you are providing
A distant ship sank on your ignorance
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move but I don’t wanna hear what you’re saying
When I was a child
I caught a halfwit oaf
Tried to give him a piece of my mind
I turned to look but he was gone
I cannot raise my finger now
The child’s not grown
Perhaps I was wrong
You always were comfortably dumb

  1. My teacher in Expressive Arts Therapy always asked us, after having explained an exercise for us, “are you comfortably confused?” VERY helpful state of mind when it comes to play and arting 🙂
